Microsoft Office 365 Training Courses at your premises in Cambridgeshire from £55 per delegate

Microsoft Office 365 has gained in popularity over the last couple of years as organisations and individuals become more used to subscription based software.

What is Office 365?

Office 365 is essentially the familiar suite of Microsoft programmes, but purchased and maintained through a subscription service. With more and more of our activities, both social and business, moving onto the web, and with internet access becoming faster and faster, the opportunity for moving our business applications as well as our business documents online has now been properly realised. Following the lead taken by Google with their Google Docs, Microsoft has now developed its own online strategy known as Office 365. It is, in effect, a properly web-enabled version of Microsoft Office which can be stored either locally or accessed online remotely as required.

In a new model of licencing, Office 365 is delivered not as a once-only product but on an ongoing subscription arrangement. As a consequence all updates will be made immediately available and, with continuation of the subscription, the latest versions of all subscribed products will become instantly available.

One of the primary aims of Office 365 is to facilitate sharing of information and collaboration of geographically disparate teams. Several features have been included in different packages of Office 365 to assist with this including Lync, an online communication tool for instant messaging and webinars; a SharePoint site for team information and files; the option to create a public website; and to have Office 365 handle all emails.

Users may also choose to save their files on the SkyDrive. The SkyDrive is essentially a remote server managed by Microsoft onto which all files and documents may be saved. Consequently these files can be accessed from any place and machine that has internet access thereby facilitating the portability of work. These files are password protected and can be made available to defined groups of people as well as individuals.

Office 365 is also available as a reduced functionality application for use on tablets and smartphones.
